At Mina Design Studio, we had the pleasure of contributing to one of Malta’s most iconic new destinations, the Mercury Tower Shopping Mall in St. Julian’s. This project allowed us to explore how design can shape emotion, flow, and connection within a commercial space.

Our vision was to create a refined retail environment that feels both dynamic and serene, a place where architecture, light, and material come together in perfect balance. The mall’s signature feature, an expansive luminous ceiling installation covering over 350 square metres, was designed to emulate a cloudy spring sky. Its softly perforated panels scatter light in a delicate, ever-changing rhythm, transforming the walkways into a poetic play of movement and reflection.

We paired this ethereal lightscape with warm textures, curved forms, and understated luxury to ensure harmony across all areas, from boutique corridors to open social zones. Every detail was considered to guide visitors naturally, evoking a sense of discovery and calm throughout the space.

For us, this project reflects the essence of what Mina stands for: timeless design that connects people to place, not only through aesthetics, but through feeling.
